Latest News:

The Board of Public Works has awarded the Prop O, Peck Park Canyon Enhancement Project construction contract to C.S. Legacy Construction, Inc., in the amount of $3,636,946. We anticipate the Notice to Proceed will be issued by the end of February and that construction will start soon thereafter.  It is expected to take about a year to complete.

Peck Park Canyon Enhancement Project

A "final scheme" has been drawn up for the renovation of 31 undeveloped acres within Peck Park in San Pedro. The area, known as Peck Park Canyon, is hilly open space with foot trails winding beneath trees, and is located within the Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council boundary.

Proposition O - Clean Water Bond Program and the Peck Park Canyon Enhancement Program
The objective of the Peck Park Canyon Enhancement Project is to remove bacteria and other pollutants from surface urban runoff from Peck Park Canyon and keep them from reaching the Los Angeles Harbor and the San Pedro Bay.

The project, along with other approved Proposition O projects, will assist in complying with the Santa Monica Bay Beaches Wet Weather Bacteria Total maximum Daily Load (TMDL), making our beaches and bay waters safer and healthier places while meeting Environmental Protection Agaency and federal Clean Water Act requirements.

FAST FACTS:

-Project location: Peck Park Canyon aera bound by Park Westesrn on the north, Summerland Avenue on the south, Western Avenue on the west, and Bandini Street on the east.
-Proposition O will fund stormwater BMPs (Best Management Practices) such as filtration fields/basins; bioswales; new catch basins; energy dissipatears; landscaping and slope stabilizations.
-Proposition 50 will fund the restoration and widening of existing trails; the development of new trails; pedestrian bridges; signage; trash bins; and other park improvements.
-Construction period: December 2009 through early winter 2010
-Project budget: $4.8 million (60% Prop O, 40% Prop 50)
