PROFILE:
David L. Rivera, Board Member
David was born and raised in San Pedro. He attended Barton Hill and
15th Street Elementary Schools, Dana Jr. High, and SPHS from 1952 through
1955. While in high school he also served in the California National
Guard.
In December of 1955 David joined the U.S. Army, serving to 1958. After
various jobs, he began service in 1968 with the (then) U.S. Post Office
Department. He became a member of the National Association of Letter
Carriers, AFL-CIO, and served in three Union Locals holding positions
of Shop Steward, Chief, Area Steward and Vice- President.
After retiring from the Postal Service in 1997, David became involved
in community affairs and political campaigns. He presently serves with
San Pedro Homeowners United as Vice President and is Vice President
of the San Pedro Wednesday Senior Club, affiliated with the LA County
Senior Services Center.
His wife Olga is a retired realtor. David has two sons, both married.
David is a local Chiropractor, and Ron is affiliated with the ILWU.
Being a life long resident of San Pedro, David saw an excellent opportunity
to further serve the community by becoming a board member of the Northwest
Neighborhood Council, where he is a member of the Outreach and Election
Committees.
