PROFILE:
John Greenwood, Vice President
Currently a real estate broker with his wife Caren at ERA Golden West Realty in San Pedro, John is also a Senior Trainer for Coro Southern California, a program to develop leaders in public affairs.
John was the founding president of the Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council for the first three years of its existence and has served in various other capacities, including Vice President, Chair of the Bylaws Committee and Chair of the Planning & Land Use Committee.
Previously John served as a member of the Board of Education for Los Angeles Unified School District representing South Los Angeles and the Harbor area (1979-87) and served as L.A.U.S.D. Board President (1983-85).
Prior experience includes Field Deputy to California State Assemblyman Vincent Thomas and Executive Vice-President, San Pedro Peninsula Hospital Foundation. John serves as the Chair of the Proposition Q Citizens Oversight Committee, appointed to that position by Los Angeles Mayor Jim Hahn. He is a member and past President of the San Pedro Rotary Club and serves on the Board of Directors of the Gang Alternatives Program and Angels Gate Cultural Center.
John and Caren were awarded the Community Builder award from the Harbor Area/Long Beach Chapter of Habitat for Humanity for their work in finding sites for the program. John is a graduate of the Coro Fellows Program, M.A., Political Science, University of Michigan; B.A., Political Science, University of California, Riverside.
