Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council - Governing Board

Diana NavePROFILE:
John Stammreich

John Stammreich returns to the NWSPNC board after a two-year hiatus. An 11-year veteran of the naval service, John works in the Aerospace & Defense industry as a government supply chain manager, and volunteers as a Dale Carnegie Coach for the Effective Communications and Human Relations course.

John currently serves the San Pedro community as Chancellor of the Angel’s Gate Knights of Columbus Council 1740 (serving Mary Star, St. Peter’s and Holy Trinity Catholic parishes), Naval Academy Information Officer for San Pedro High School, and as Chairman of the local Republican Central Committee. Additionally, John serves on the Education Advisory Board for Antioch University Los Angeles.
In his previous term, John chaired the Communications & Outreach committee and served on the Land Use and Planning Committee. John also led the NWSPNC Fireworks Reduction Task Force, working with both LAPD and community members to significantly reduce the fireworks activity in the weeks before and after the July 4th weekend in San Pedro since 2006.

In 2009, John teamed with local activists throughout Los Angeles to defeat Measure B, the controversial solar energy measure, working with citywide labor groups and numerous neighborhood councils. John also campaigned extensively throughout the South Bay in 2009 to defeat Propositions 1A through 1E, the statewide tax increases. Following these, John was active in the 2010 gubernatorial election as both a South Bay State Senate nominee and as Meg Whitman’s South Bay Campaign Chairman.

John and his wife Andrea have two daughters (AnneMarie - 6, and Violet - 2) and reside in the Park Western portion of San Pedro.
