Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council
- Governing Board
PROFILE:
Mary Hamlin
Before the Vincent Thomas Bridge and before I hardly knew what a freeway
was all about (I grew up in Wasco, a tiny farming town north of Bakersfield!),
I came to San Pedro to apply for a job, fell in love with the area and
have been here ever since. I’ve watched San Pedro grow from a
small, mostly fishing community into a bustling, grossly overbuilt and
overpopulated city. I volunteered to “take a few notes”
for the Land Use and Planning Committee, became a member of the Board
and am now Secretary of the Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council.
What an honor to work with such a spectacular, brilliant, articulate
and hard working group of people who spend innumerable hours striving
to make San Pedro the best that it can be!
I became involved in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life after
losing most of my family and friends to cancer and am so very proud
to be the 2007 Co-Chair for the San Pedro Relay For Life. Animals are
my love, my passion, my life and after becoming a Reiki Master four
years ago, I’m now able to incorporate my love of Reiki and my
love of animals by establishing my animal Reiki practice.
Getting older can be a beautiful thing! I’ve managed to incorporate,
in one lifetime, three of my favorite things---no, make that four! I
got that job I came to San Pedro to apply for in 1964...and still work
there! Life is good.
